About three weeks after sweet Sawyer was born, Aunt Allie was not feeling well. She went to the hospital and was admitted immediately for peripartum cardiomyopathy, a complicated phrase for a very complicated heart condition... congestive heart failure after pregnancy. She was hospitalized from Sunday to Wednesday and while she was resting and recovering under a doctors care, we were the lucky ones who got to spend our days and nights with Sawyer!!
We held her every chance we got!!
We stayed close while she was awake...
...and we kept her close while she was asleep!
We fed her...
...and we gave her lots of kisses! Food and love: the essentials of life!
We took our caregiving job very seriously! We guarded our sweet girl day and night!! We loved every minute that we spent with Sawyer Anne! She is such an angel!!
We weren't ready for our Sawyer to go after three nights with us, but we were so very happy that Aunt Allie was released from her hospital stay on Wednesday... and of course, she was ready to have that sweet baby girl back by her side!! Aunt Allie was allowed to finish recovering at home, but she had to wear a defibrillator vest for added safety. It may take a whole year for a full recovery, but we all feel so blessed to have witnessed this miracle of strength and endurance... I guess that even a heart of gold needs a little rest sometimes!! We sure do love our Aunt Allie!!
