It has been a GREAT last year at Langham!!

Ryan has grown and accomplished so much in his elementary school years at Langham!  He has worked hard, had fun, received a fantastic and well-rounded education, he has made wonderful friends and amazing memories, and his love for learning has grown!  His love for learning showed on Awards Day when he was recognized for his academic accomplishments!

 

The first award that Ryan received was for "the other education" that he received at Langham, Ryan's favorite education... Physical Education!  Ryan was awarded for his success in surpassing the standard measures of the FitnessGram, a battery of physical skills and activities.

Ryan's educational achievements were impressive.  He received the President's Education Award for Academic Excellence, A Honor Roll, the 4th Grade Computer Achievement Award, a Service Award for being a part of Langham's Safety Patrol, he was recognized for being a member of Langham Singers and Choir Chimes, and he was awarded for earning 113.1 Accelerated Reader Points.  A lot of hard work earned Ryan a lot of well-deserved recognition!

 

 

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was a big part of Ryan's 4th grade year.  The test was introduced to the state Ryan's third grade year, and it was created to be a much more difficult assessment than the prior TAKS test.  Ryan worked very hard and had the coaching and support of an amazing third grade teacher, Mrs. Smith, and a fantastic fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Lapeyrolerie.  He did not receive an award for his performance on the STAAR test , but seeing his scores was rewarding enough!!  In third grade, Ryan's performance was commended, getting 36 out of 40 correct in Reading and 42 out of 46 correct in Math.  His fourth grade results earned him another advanced academic performance and his scores were only better, getting 41 out of 44 correct on the Reading portion and 46 out of 48 correct on Math.  The big challenge for Ryan in fourth grade was the Writing portion of the exam.  He did great in revision and editing getting 25 out of 28 correct, and did a very good job writing his personal narrative and expository entries!!

 

We are so lucky to have a big brother that leads by his wonderful example, inspires us to do our best and make good choices, and makes us want to work hard and succeed in the same way that he has!  Ryan leaves big shoes to fill, but we will do our best to make him proud!!
