Granna snapped these shots of me and Peyton on the Little Wooden Shoes playground this week! I decided to take a peaceful break from play... I am glad that she got her phone out quickly to capture the moment because I was off to play in a flash!
Here is Peyton in his baseball uniform for the day!
While Ryan was at his baseball practice at Ford Park in Beaumont on Thursday evening, we spent two hours and forty minutes entertaining ourselves with a good old backyard baseball game! We threw the ball, caught the ball, hit the ball, and had a BALL!! We weren't ready to go in and hit the shower, but we retired when the sun started to set! The only good thing about going in for the day was knowing that tomorrow afternoon would be another day to PLAY BALL!
On Friday evening, we had a celebration dinner at Texas Roadhouse to congratulate Ryan and Dylan on their wonderful report cards!! For five six-week periods, Ryan has brought home spectacular All-A Report Cards, and Dylan's Report Cards have been full of E's and S's!! Mommy says that the only thing that makes those report cards look better to her are all of the Excellent Conduct grades. I should probably try to follow in their footsteps and be super good when I start Kindergarten next year!!
On a COLD and very windy Saturday morning, we woke up bright and early to watch Ryan and the Roughriders play an 8 o'clock game in the USSSA Texas Slugfest Super NIT Tournament. The boys celebrated a 13-6 win over the Southeast Texas Venom. Game two was a battle that ended in a 6-4 loss against the Houston team Diamond Dawgs.
While Ryan was playing his second game, we were off to Nederland Little League Baseball Park for the 2012 Rookie Astros team pictures! I have to say, we are a very handsome and talented bunch!!
After pictures, we gathered on the field to play our 10 o'clock game. Our team was ready to play even though it was still super cold outside! Peyton was suited up for the game and convinced Daddy that he should be able to play with the big boys! At three years old, he was the lead off batter for our Astros team!! Here is a picture of Peyton looking to Daddy for advice before his debut at bat!!
A hit down the third base line... and he was safe on first!
Peyton's first run scored!! We are looking forward to many more...
Three baseball games played before noon and we had the whole afternoon to play at home! And you have probably guessed that we spent a lot of our play time playing... BASEBALL!!
Sunday was another day of baseball for the Texas Roughriders. The boys won the first game against Bullet Baseball, a team from Lake Charles, 10-6. They then lost 10-5 to the Houston Wranglers in the game before the Championship game. The boys kept the game close until the final inning when time ran out before they could battle back. There were not as many wins as we would have liked this weekend, but we are still proud of those awesome Roughrider boys!!
After another long day of play, Peyton was tuckered out... he took a nap before bedtime!!
Ryan will be taking the STAAR Math and Reading tests on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, so we wish him the best of luck as he puts his skills to the test!! He has done an amazing job on the practice tests and we are confident that he will do the same on the "real deal!"
After the week speeds by, our weekend will be kicked off by a Friday evening Astros game for Dylan, Wilson, and Peyton... and on Saturday and Sunday, another tournament at Ford Park for Dylan and the Gladiators, and Ryan and the Roughriders!!
